Protect Rugby in Western Australia

Engineering and Construction Company Clough, as a major partner of the Western Force are calling upon Australian Rugby Union to keep the Western Force as a part of the Super Rugby competition to preserve grassroots Rugby in Western Australia.

Clough CEO and Managing Director Peter Bennett said, “We vehemently oppose the ARUs confirmation that the Western Force may be cut at the end of the current season. Clough’s support of the Western Force reflects our passion for a healthy local community. A decision to cut the Western Force will hurt the Western Australian community.”

“This decision by the ARU is likely to have disastrous effects for grassroots rugby in Western Australia. Playing for the Western Force is what kids in junior competitions aspire to. The removal of the only Western Australian team takes away the incentive for these kids to keep playing Rugby, along with their parents involvement. WA has given us some excellent role models as sportsman and as community leaders.”

“I would like to see the Business leaders in Western Australia to express their support for the Western Force. I would also like to see our new State Government do everything in their power to protect their investments in Rugby in Western Australia.” Bennett said.

It is time for Australian Rugby to make a comeback; not a cutback. Australian Rugby is stronger with the Western Force and Western Australia.
