Welcoming Clough’s 2018/19 Summer Interns

Last week Clough welcomed 11 young professionals to its Summer Intern Program.

Over the course of their 12-week internships, they will gain valuable, practical work experience in their respective fields of study to prepare them for employment after graduation.

This year’s interns study a range of engineering disciplines including civil, structural, process, design, mechanical, and electrical and instrumentation, and this year we have also welcomed an intern in our finance department.

From the corporate office to site, the interns will put their skills into practice working with our teams across various projects for a number of clients, including BHP, Woodside, and the Water Corporation of WA.

We are delighted to have the interns contributing to our projects and look forward to developing their skills and real work experience within our teams.

At the time of construction, the Cape Lambert Jetty was the longest jetty in the world, and one of the highest. The jetty measured in at 2.3km in length and was built 18m in height above sea level because of the prevalence of cyclones in the region. It was built using A-frame steel piles, which many remarked looked like matchsticks. For the high standard of work on the Cape Lambert Marine Facility, the Harbourworks Clough Joint Venture was awarded the prestigious Australian Federation of Construction Contractors Construction Achievement Award in 1973.
