Clough Scholarships Encourage Next Generation of Business Leaders

One of the University of Western Australia’s (UWA) most promising Masters of Business Administration (MBA) students, Craig Costello, has been awarded a Clough Scholarship to complete his MBA.

Following a rigorous selection process, Craig will receive $20,000 which will be used to support his studies.

The Clough MBA Scholarship program was introduced by Clough in 2015 in line with its commitment to support Western Australia’s brightest young minds. The MBA Scholarship program is an extension to Clough’s Engineering Scholarship program, first introduced in 1969 by Dr. Harold Clough in partnership with UWA.

Clough CEO Peter Bennett in welcoming Craig to the Clough Scholars family said “the Clough MBA Scholarship Program supports Western Australia’s next generation of business leaders to continue to achieve excellence in their academic performance, while providing a platform to excel in the industry.” “Craig joins a distinguished worldwide network of Clough scholars who are industry leaders in their fields.”

MBA Scholar Craig Costello said “The full time MBA at UWA has quite a demanding schedule that does not allow a lot of time for earning a wage, which makes this scholarship all the more meaningful. There is a very high quality of candidates within the full time MBA cohort at UWA, and I am confident that each will continue to make important contributions to society at both the professional and personal levels. I am proud to be associated with this cohort and full time MBA study program at UWA.

The UWA Business School’s MBA Director, Dr Michele Roberts, said “Clough’s support of the MBA program highlighted the benefits of strong links between the business and engineering industries.”

“Clough’s support of UWA’s MBA program, and in particular this scholarship, is helping develop future leaders with high-level skills in both engineering and business. Industry scholarships, such as the Clough MBA Scholarship, not only provide financial assistance but also give recipients invaluable opportunities to network with companies and gain further practical experience,” Dr Roberts said.

“We are grateful to Clough for their ongoing support of our students.”

Clough awards one MBA Scholarship each year to a full time student who has demonstrated leadership capability and superior academic results.
