Clough awarded Wheatstone Offshore Hook-Up and Commissioning contract

2nd February 2012

Engineering and construction company Clough Limited (ASX:CLO) today announced the award of an approximate A$350 million contract for the offshore hook-up and commissioning component of the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project.

The services will be provided over a 40 month period commencing immediately. The agreed scope of work includes the provision of labour, materials and an accommodation support vessel to assist Chevron with pre-commissioning, commissioning of integrated float over deck systems, offshore hook-up, and start-up assistance.

Project management will be executed from Clough's head office in Perth, while engineering and technical teams will be deployed to the fabrication yard in Korea and subsequently to the offshore platform located 225 kilometres from the Onslow coast. At peak, Clough will employ a workforce of over 300 people.

"As an Australian contractor, Clough is proud to be selected by Chevron for this significant Western Australian project" said Clough's CEO Kevin Gallagher.

"We will draw on our comprehensive offshore execution and commissioning experience in the North West Shelf region to deliver the best possible outcome for Chevron and their partners".

The Wheatstone Processing Platform will be one of Australia's largest offshore facilities with a topsides weight of about 37,000 tonnes. The topsides will be transported to the offshore installation site on a barge, and installed onto the substructure using a float over procedure.

The platform topsides have a total deck area of 20,000 square meters and include primary processing equipment and facilities.

The Wheatstone project is a joint venture between Chevron, Apache, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, Shell and Kyushu Electric Power Company.
