Henry Laas

Henry Laas  B.Eng (Mining) MBA 

Non-Executive Chairman

Henry Laas is the Group Chief Executive of Murray & Roberts Holdings Limited. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) degree from the University of Pretoria and an MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand. He has extensive experience in the mineral resources and mining contracting sectors. As former Managing Director of Murray & Roberts Cementation and its predecessor RUC Mining Contractors for more than 10 years, he played an instrumental role in the expansion of the Cementation Mining Group’s global footprint. Henry joined the Clough Board in July 2011.

Peter Bennett

Peter Bennett B.Eng (Mechanical)

Chief Executive Officer and ​Managing Director

Peter Bennett was appointed as CEO of Clough on 1 February 2016, bringing 26 years’ international experience in the oil and gas, LNG and infrastructure contracting service sector to the organisation. His experience spans contracting business process, operational and corporate leadership.     

Peter commenced his career as a graduate mechanical engineer with CB&I in Australia.  During his 26 year tenure Peter progressed through a diverse range of roles including engineering, project management, business development, operations management, corporate function management and general management.  Prior to joining Clough Peter was President, Oil & Gas International for CB&I, based in The Hague.

Peter has run multinational business divisions, and has implemented programs to significantly improve cost and operational performance while delivering workforce and order book growth.  He has managed global market expansion and M&A programs, and as the VP of Sales, he set new records for business secured for several successive years.

Peter has lived and worked across all of Clough’s strategic growth regions, including Australia, Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa and North America.

Corbus Bester

Cobus Bester B.Com (Acc) Hons CA (SA)

Non-Executive Director

Cobus Bester is the Group Financial Director of Murray & Roberts Holdings Limited. He is a Chartered Accountant with more than 23 years experience in the construction and engineering industry. He was the Group Financial Director for Basil Read and Concor Limited for three and six years respectively and was appointed Managing Director of Concor in 2005. Concor was acquired by Murray & Roberts in 2006 and subsequently delisted from JSE Limited (previously the Johannesburg Stock Exchange). Cobus has been a Director of Murray & Roberts Limited since 2007 and joined the Clough Limited Board in July 2011.

Ian Henstock

Ian Henstock B.Compt (Hons) CTA CA(SA), HDip Tax Law MBA

Non-Executive Director

Ian Henstock joined the Clough Board in January 2012. He is the Group Commercial Director of Murray & Roberts, and also serves on the Boards of Murray & Roberts Limited and Murray & Roberts
International Holdings Limited. Prior to joining Murray & Roberts, Ian held a number of leadership roles in the financial sector. He commenced his career with Ernst & Young as an articled clerk, and rose
to the position of Executive Deputy Chairman, before joining Capital Partners as Executive Director.

Following a period with Deloitte & Touche as Corporate Finance Managing Partner, he took the role as the Chief Executive of Bridge Capital, growing that business into a successful niche investment
banking firm. In 2004 he was approached by the ABSA Group to head up ABSA Merchant Bank and shortly thereafter was promoted to Deputy Managing Executive of ABSA Corporate & Merchant Bank, a position he held until 2006 when he transferred to ABSA Private Bank as Senior Executive: Strategic Wealth Management to create a private wealth capability in the Private Bank.

Rajiv Ratneser

Rajiv Ratneser B.Com, LLB 

Executive Vice President, Business Development and Commercial, and Executive Director

Raj Ratneser started as one of Clough’s legal counsel in March 2004, before being promoted to General Counsel in 2008.  In February 2014, Raj was appointed Executive Vice President, HSSE and Corporate Governance.  He was also appointed as an Executive Director of Clough Limited effective 1 February 2014.

Raj has over 15 years of legal experience in both dispute resolution as well as front end contract negotiation for large capital projects.  He has extensive experience and knowledge in Clough’s major forms of contracting strategy including EPC, EPCM and Alliancing.  He has been heavily involved with the negotiation and administration of many of Clough’s project contracts including in the oil and gas, and mining and minerals markets.

Raj is responsible for administering the Corporate Governance framework for the group, including risk, HSSE, insurance, legal, claims and corporate audit, as well as the company secretariat.


Richard Simons

Richard Simons  B.Com 

Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director

Richard Simons commenced as Clough's Chief Financial Officer in June 2015.

Richard was previously employed at Clough as Group Manager Corporate Finance & Treasury from 2005 to 2010 and, reporting to the CFO, was responsible for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, negotiating acquisitions and disposals, managing investments and raising equity or debt facilities to fund investments and projects.

Since leaving Clough, Richard has broadened his financial and international management experience, holding the position of CFO and Company Secretary at Austal Limited, before joining Thrifty WA as Chief Executive Officer.

As a senior executive with more than 25 years management experience, Richard will have overall accountability for finance, accounting, payroll, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), information systems and supply chain, while managing our financial reporting obligations to Murray & Roberts.
